Craft Time

The first projects I created were frames. They are super-duper easy and are so fun to make.

Each year I buy a Christmas Frame for mine and B-Dubs Christmas picture. After running across this idea, I decided to make one. Who knows, maybe this will be the new tradition. It was so easy I could make one everyday. And I might be a bit biased, but this particular frame looks way better in person. These pictures just do not do it justice.  Notice the sanded detailing around the edges.

If you want to make them you will need:

1] Wood frame from Michael's ($1)
2] Scrapbook paper
3] Mod-Podge glue
4] Sponge Brush to spread glue
5] Rolling Pen or Brayer
6] Razor Blade
7] Sand Block (or Sand Paper)
8] Anything else you want to add to the frame

You start by spreading a thin layer of Mod-Podge to the wood frame. You then apply your paper. Roll it out and make sure it's flat and there are no extra air bubbles. Flip the frame over and use the razor blade to remove the paper from around the frame and in the picture area.  Flatten again just to make sure that you have a smooth surface. Let Dry. Once it's dry use the sandpaper to sand/buff/scratch the edges both outside the frame and inside the picture area.  You make choose to apply a protective coat of Mod podge over your paper. Personally I do not.  Then you just decorate and enjoy!

I also made this "Librarian Wreath". It's made using book pages, a foam wreath and the hot glue gun. Super simple (but time consuming)... and totally worth it!

You can get the how-to's from Living with Lindsay's blog. She gives you all the details and even has a video if you need it.

That wreath is gorgeous. And the picture frames are so cute. I love all the detail. You could sell those for sure. People pay good money for picture frames that look like those.

I went to a craft fair this weekend, and someone made some of those square frames and was selling them for $15!!! Crazy considering how inexpensive they are to make! Too cute!
