It was a year ago on Christmas Eve 08' that Mr. Dubs and I found out we were expecting our miracle.
Christmas 08'. The day we found out we were expecting a baby.
This year were were able to celebrate with Mr. K Baby and what a joy it was. He makes our hearts melt and we couldn't imagine this Christmas without him.
Mr. K Baby. Christmas 09'
A year can change so much!
This year Christmas was a little different. It didn't quite go like all of us has planned.
On Christmas Eve B Dub, K Baby and I headed over to my moms house around 11am. We normally begin the festivities around noon each year, but my brother wasn't able to make it until around 2pm due to the SNOWY weather conditions! Yes, that's right. We had SNOW on Christmas Eve! Not only was it K Dubs first snow fall, but it was on Christmas Eve.
ANOTHER SIDE OF THE STORY:
We had found out the day before that my sister in law (B Dubs's sister, Holly) and her husband Greg weren't going to be able to make it to Dallas [from Lubbock] for Christmas. Greg's mother has been sick for quite sometime and she was rushed to the Hospital on the 22nd after they found her unconscious on the floor. Her prognosis was not very good and they were not going to be able to travel. Not only was her health reason enough in it's self to stay at home, but the weather in Lubbock was worse than the weather in Dallas.
Here's the catch however; Holly and Greg had shipped ALL of the kids presents (Santa presents and personal) to Dallas so that Santa could visit them here at Gigi and Pops house.
With all of that said, Pops and Gigi needed to make it to Lubbock on Christmas Eve so that Santa would be able to visit the kiddos. Knowing that the weather was getting bad in Dallas and was already bad in Lubbock, they still took the risk and hit the roads.
As we were opening Christmas presents at my moms house B Dub's got a call from his parents letting him know that they were snowed in and stranded on the roads. Not only were they on the roads in bad weather conditions, but the main highway was shut down and they were forced to get off on the back-roads. Luckily they were able to find a Roach Motel so they didn't have to stay in the car. All in all, they had to stay the night there and they were not able to make it to Lubbock that day.
Back to our festivities:
After opening presents at my moms house, we were able to snap a Family picture in the SNOW! It actually snowed a lot harder than it looks like in this picture. We were afraid that it would go away so we rushed the picture. A few hours after we took this we ended up with inches of snow and much bigger snowflakes.
Dub Family's First Snow!
We then warmed up and played "Dirty Santa". I ended up with the board game Apples to Apples and Mr. Dub ended up with the Inglorious Bastards DVD.
We moved on to playing the traditional "games" that we play each year. The games are not necessarily the same each year, but nonetheless we play a TON of games and win prizes (aka more gifts).

Playing Games!
This was a new game that I came up with this year. It was hilarious!
As you can see, my Aunt is rolling dice. While she was trying to roll a certain #, my mother was trying to open a present (with gloves on). Once my aunt rolled the right # my mom had to pass the box to her (as well as all of the gear). Once that box was opened, there was another wrapped box, etc, etc, etc. We had a great time!
Dawn was attempting to open the box...
You have to tear out a Christmas Tree shape and then decorate. We vote on the best one and they get prizes.
Some of them turn out great!
(Carrisa and my brother D)
Some, not so great...
Makes you wonder... haha
And the winners are... (Thom and My Dad)
After eating more foods and desserts, playing game after game and opening more presents we called it a night (or so we thought).
The cars were loaded with everyone's loot and we had started the cars so they would be warm and toasty when we got in.
WELL... (I love you Dawn), but my cousin accidentally locked the keys in her car... while running. I called the police so see if they would be able to help. Apparently small town police officers are not equipped to open doors. I made a few calls to Towing Services there in the area (at 8pm on Christmas Eve). The first company I called said that it would be an hour and a half before they could make it out there to help. I called the next company and they were able to be there in 5 minutes. Go me!
After we got home, we cozied into bed and Santa Claus came to visit.
We woke up Christmas Morning and watched as K Baby opened his presents (with assistance from Mommy and Daddy of course).
Christmas Presents!
K Dub LOVES his new Saltwater Fish Aquarium.
(Discovery Kids items Rock)
Santa Claus brought him a new mobile! He adores it!
Mommy and Daddy bought him the Lights and Music Ball. He has been boppin it like crazy!
Baby Dubs with his Gifts!
We called to touch base with B Dub's parents and they had 8 inches of snowfall and sheets of ice on the roads. They were staying put for a while and letting the other cars warm the streets before continuing on their journey.
Mr. Dubs and I headed over to my moms house to open presents. The original plan was to head to B's Parent's house, but you see how much that worked out.

My brother, B Dub and my dad all got Sky Diving packages from my mom! They are stoked!
* Sky diving is NOT my thing.
We enjoyed present time over at my moms, headed home to relax and let K Baby nap before we headed to B's Aunts house.
As we were driving to B's Aunts house, we got a call that B's parents made it to Lubbock. The kids were so excited that they got more presents. Fortunately Greg was able to make it to Wal-Mart the night before so they would have something Christmas Morning. Overall, they had no idea, but were glad when they could open the "Cool Presents".
All this while, Carolyn (Greg's mom) was getting better and then worse. His sister, Natalie, was trying to fly home from London so that she could be home for Christmas. Her flights kept getting delayed or cancelled.
We found out yesterday evening that Natalie made it home just in time to say Good-Bye to her mom. Carolyn passed away yesterday and went home to be with Jesus.
Obviously this Christmas was not quite what we had expected. Though Carolyn will be missed by many, we are also rejoicing that she is now at home with the Lord. She is no longer in pain and has no worries. She is now perfect in the eyes of God. We will see her again someday but will miss her until we do so.
I'm sorry for such a long post and I hope that you were able to stay interested to the end.
I hope that you had a wonderful Christmas and I look forward to posting more HAPPY posts in the next fews weeks!
