DSI Appointment

Wow... this blog takes a lot of turns in Post Topics. I really need to get better at this. One day you get crafts, another day you get K Baby updates, and then another day you get to hear me "think out loud" about life. Maybe I will create topic days. That way you can just tune in to whichever topic interests you the most.

This post however is a quick update on K Baby's DSI Appointment. DSI just stands for Digital Surface Imaging.  In all honesty, the appointment was so quick it's hard to believe that I drove there for it. Once we were back in the room, I got K Dub undressed down to his diaper so they could take the picture of his head without anything getting in the way.

The Technician came into the room and told me what they were going to do. She then told me they were going to put this little white pantyhose type sock over his head to make certain they get the best possible image of the head shape. She said that most kids don't really care for it and will cry. But she also assured me that it does not hurt them and they can breath just fine.  The only thought going through my mind was "Great. Now I get to hear him scream.. ugh".

Well, I'm happy to say that when she put the "sock" on his head, he laughed... the entire time.  He smiled and giggled and just thought it was the funniest thing he had ever had. What a goober!

They took him back into the Imaging room where the DSI machine is. I asked if it was OK to take photos for my scrapbook.  Obviously they said I could because here are the cute little pictures of him at his appointment.

If you look close you can see the "Sock" on his head.
It looks kind of creepy huh?

And here is a video of the entire process... It's a whopping 48 seconds long.

They took the sock off of his head and enjoyed his company for a bit. They actually asked me to take their picture posing like this. Funny ladies.

And for those of you that are curious, the term for the "Flatness" on his head has a name. It's called Plagiocephaly. He also has a moderate form of Brachycephaly.

I was asked about Chiropractic care and treatment options. For those of you that are not aware, I worked for a Chiropractor for about 2 years (ish) and and I am a HUGE, HUGE fan of Chiropractic care. K Baby has been to a Chiro quite a bit since he has been born and unfortunately these issues can not be corrected with Chiropractic Care. If they could, that's what we would be doing. Trust me, it would be much, much cheaper.

And just for fun, here are a few more pictures of my darling little man.

Daddy  Dubs and K Baby hanging out after Daddy's workout.
B Dub says that he doesn't look very good in this picture...  I disagree.

Playing in the Jumper after his DSI.
I think I could just squeeze those cheeks to pieces!

Catching the Water
For some reason he loves to try and grab the water when I pour it over him. Well.. I got tired of pouring the water (over and over and over) and decided to turn on the shower head. The pressure was so low it was barely dripping. He LOVED trying to Catch the water!

That picture of him sitting there happily with the sock on his head is priceless. I laughed out loud. But only because he seems so happy. What a goof!
I'm so glad his appointment went well. He's such a cutie.

You must have the most laid back baby boy in the world! Mine would have screamed their heads off with that thing on their head. Such a silly boy! You are truly blessed!

Hey Girly! We went thur almost the same thing with Mist. They sent us to several doctors at OU's Children's Med Center but in the end decided against the helment..I am still not sure what all went on and why I was confused. When her hair is wet you can tell she has the flattness in the back. I can't believe he didn't mind the sock thing over his head! To funny! When he starts trying to put stuff over his head you will know why!! Hope you have a great weekend!
