Random Wednesday- Awesome Safety Fact for us Girls!

This might be "Random Wednesday", but it's a very important Random Fact! I want to share the following information with you. It's important as a woman to be as educated as possible regarding safety.

My brother in law sent me an email the other day with the following information (and story). I checked on Snopes and it is true.  And it also said you can call 911, but that number will take some time to get to the appropriate authority because it is used by many departments.

Please take a few seconds to read, and if anything, just entertain yourself. I shutter at the thought that it should happen to someone I know.

The Story:
It was about 1:00p.m. in the afternoon, and Lauren was driving to visit a friend. An  UNMARKED Police car pulled up behind her and put his lights on.  Lauren's parents have always told her never to pull over for an unmarked car on the side of the road, but rather to wait until they get to a gas station, etc.

Ok ladies, please pay attention!  Lauren had actually listened to her parents advice, and promptly called*77 on her cell phone to tell the Police dispatcher that she would not pull over right away, she was not trying to avoid the Policeman, but wanted to go to a populated place to stop. She proceeded to tell the dispatcher that there appeared to be an unmarked Police car with a flashing red light on his rooftop behind her.

The dispatcher checked to see if there were Police cars where she was and there weren't, and he told her to keep driving the speed limit, remain calm and that he had back up already on the way.

Ten minutes later 4 marked Police cars surrounded her and the unmarked car behind her. One Policeman went to her side and the others surrounded the car behind. They pulled the guy from the car and tackled him to the ground. The man was a convicted rapist and wanted for other crimes.

The *77 number does not apply for each state, rather each state has it's own * number. I have attached a photo diagram that provides your * number for you particular state.

As a woman alone in a car, you should not pull over for an unmarked car.  Apparently police have to respect your right to keep going to a safe, or populated, place. And yes, this law applies to all 50 states!

You may want to Send this to every woman (and man) you know.  It may save a life.

I hope that you have learned something new and that you will never have to use it.

Here's to safety!

This is very scary and so true! My Aunt experience something VERY VERY similar. An unmarked "police car" tried pulling him over. Her instincts kicked in and although she pulled over she let the "officer" know that she was calling the police station to verify. He told her he was going to get something from his car and took off. Thank God he did because my Aunt's cell phone was dead. So she wouldn't have been able to call anyone and he had pulled her over on a rural road that had very little traffic near the woods.
