Good News! Baby K went to the Craniologist this morning and we are released from wearing the DOC Band. We go back Next Friday for the exit exam (so they can do all the pics again and measure the "success"). It's crazy to think that we are done with it already. They said that our diligence paid off as well as the fact that he grew into it quickly. Some parents don't make their little ones wear the band the entire 23 hours of the day, therefore; their child has to wear it longer. Not us. They said to wear it 23 hours and that's what he did. Granted, we had a few times that we took it off for certain events, but nonetheless you get the point.
We also went to the Pediatric Urologist this afternoon and had the Dr. evaluate Baby K's testicle issues. Again, mom and dad know best! Don't you love when that happens.
K Dub's left testicle is perfect. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it. It's the right size and it's in the right position.
The right one however is a different story. It's the correct size and shape, but it is sitting higher than it's supposed to. (which we knew). He will have to have surgery on it in order to correct it. The surgery is set for April 23rd.
A brief run down of the surgery details:
- He will have to be put down using a general anesthesia.
- It will take about 30 minutes to perform the surgery.
- They will make a very tiny incision at the base of the scrotum.
- They will bring the testicle down into position and then stitch it so that it stays in place.
- He will be released the same day to come home.
- We will need to give him Tylenol or Motrin to help relieve the soreness, but he will be back up and running by the next morning.
Apparently, the Dr. performs about 2 of these types of procedures a week. It's the most common issue that a baby boy can be born with and happens to about 1 in every 4.
Overall, we are so grateful that his 2 "issues" are quick and simple to correct and he will continue to live a perfectly normal life.
And in case you are curious, the testicle issue has no affect on fertility. His fertility stands in comparison with every other healthy male.
Also, K Dub now weighs 20 lbs 4 oz.
I'm glad he's healthy and all, but for the sake of this mommy wanting him to stay tiny... can he just slow down a bit. Goodness!
And because no post is complete without pictures... here are a few to hold you over until tomorrow.
Pops & K Dub
Baby K has "Banana Fangs".
B Dub was trying to give him a small bite and couldn't quite get it in his mouth. Naturally they ended up in this location and of course, I had to grab the camera.

So sweet!
If only we could all sleep that peacefully!

Oh.My.Goodness he is huge! So cute! Congrats on the doc. band and the other "issue." I am sure he will be a great patient and do great during surgery but we will pray none the less!
Yay!! Way to go Mom and Dad!!! He is soo cute!!!
All around, I will have to say you received great news! You guys are such amazing parents and your love has paid off, no more doc band=beautiful bald baby head!
My friends went through the same thing with their son and he was up and ready to play the next day like he never had surgery. It sounds like your doctor has done a few of these, so it is safe to say Mr. Kyah will be in good hands.
Cute pictures. So glad his medical issues are being corrected and everything is going well.
I'm glad that everything went well at the DOC band appointment, and he'll no longer have to wear it! yay! And for the other surgery, I'll be praying for you!
wonderful news x 2!! he is just so sweet!
That's wonderful to hear how yoour diligence has paid off. I am sure Kyah will love the feeling of the wind blowing through his hair or across his scalp ;) now that he is free! And from one mama who's gone through a surgery or two to another preparing, it will be hard watching them wheel him away and seeing him in the recover room, but God will take care of you guys. Just give him lots of loving and the cuddling afterwards is worth it ;) I will pray for Kyah, Mommy and Daddy to recover quickly! He is in safe hands.
Poor thing :( Atleast the procedure will get everything taken care of! We will be praying for a quick and painless recovery!
