As you all know, Baby K and I went to the Memphis this past week to visit our new cousin, Cooper!
While we were there we took advantage of some of the local entertainment.
The first call of duty... Graceland, the home of Elvis Presley. Call me silly, but this has always been on my "Bucket List". It's rare that I actually get to mark things off of my list so needless to say I was very excited about this venture.
I'm sure that several of you have been to Graceland, but in case you haven't and you are curious to know what Elvis's home looks like, here ya go.
Me and Baby K In Front of Graceland Mansion.
Elvis bought this home when he was 21 years old for $100,000.
The living Room & Piano Room.
They placed Elvis's casket in front of the stain glass when the funeral was held there at the house.
Another view of the living room...
He had always promised his parents that he would give them a nice life. This was their bedroom there in the house.
Kitchen... (with a TV). This was just opened for tour in 1995 because his Aunt Delta still cooked in it until 1993.
The dining room... This picture makes it look much larger than it is.
It's about a 12x15 foot room... if that. And the table is small and only seats 6.
The "Jungle Room"
Apparently it took him 30 minutes to pick out everything in this room... can't tell can ya?? haha
Unfortunately this picture didn't turn out very well but you can see the green carpet on the floor and the ceiling. Ooo La La!
Elvis's "Media Room"! I can only imagine that this was top of the line back in the day.
That would be me and Baby K. Seems that Elvis had to have mirrors everywhere [he liked to look at himself]. Since they wouldn't let you use a flash, this was the result of my photo attempt.
This here beauty was the Game Room... Floor to ceiling fabric, which is not to mention HIDEOUS!
See what I am talking about... ick!
This is the back of the house [if you can't figure that one out on your own]
His Dad's office that was out behind the house.
This is the ever so famous Gold Suit!
It totally "suited" this space since this is where they store all of the Gold Records, etc.
A VERY SMALL NUMBER of Gold Records that he received.
Seriously.. I took over 400 picture while we were there. Trust me when I say that this is just a tad bit. That boy was talented!
A few more...
And a few more... However this is still just a few.
The wedding get-up. Totally in style... don't you think?
And call me an idiot, but I had NO IDEA that he was buried there.
Apparently there were too many people that tried to dig him up, so they just picked him up and put him back at the house.
Part 2 tomorrow!
And that BIG NEWS I have to share with you all will have to wait just a bit longer. We still have a few things to tie up before I can announce. Don't you just hate when that happens.
