Strawberry Couture Creations

That would be the name for Mama Dubs Strawberries!  Fitting huh?

A few weeks ago my dad called me and suggested I look up a place called Berries dot com.  I did. It was fantastic!!!  However... I was not going to pay someone to decorate strawberries when I knew it was something that I could do myself.
I went on a mission (a short one) to go through the pantry and see what I had on hand. After sifting through all my baking goodies I felt I had enough ingredients to give it a whirl.  The only thing I needed to buy was strawberries. Sure enough... this is definitely the season for strawberries. The store had the biggest, juiciest, berries just waiting for me.
Want to know how to make Mama Dubs Strawberry Couture Creations?
Of course you do
HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED:
Since these are SO super easy to make, I'm sure you could use whatever suits your fancy. This is just what I used.
  • 2 cartons of BIG Strawberries
  • 1 carton of Dolci Frutta Chocolate hard Chocolate Shell
  • 1 carton of Dolci Frutta Creamy White Chocolate Shell
  • 1 bag of Shredded Coconut
  • 1 bag semi sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 little bag of nut topping
  • food coloring (optional)
  • 1 ziploc bag (optional)
  • ANYTHING ELSE that sounds good on strawberries (mini m&ms, carmel, you get the idea)...
Start by arranging all of your "toppers" in separate containers so that it's easy to dip when you cost your strawberries in your choice of chocolate.

(I'm a visual person, so I just like to assume that you are too).
Next, follow the instructions on your choice of chocolate dip so that it can melt nice and creamy. Then, dip your strawberries and then roll them in your choice of topping...

(drooling yet?)
NOTE: If you want to create the drizzle effect on some of your berries, save some of your chocolates to use.

Once you have dipped all of your strawberries and rolled them in a topping (or two), you can use the left over chocolate to drizzle on the ones that you chose to leave plain.  I chose to color the left over white icing pink. Super easy. Just use 2 drops of red food coloring, stir well and put into a ziploc bag.  (see below). Drizzle!
Put all of your strawberries in the refrigerator to chill before serving. It just helps the chocolate set and will keep your berries fresh (duh, right).
ENJOY!
And of course... let me know if you make them.  I must know these things!

I am so glad to know that there are others out there that refuse to pay the outrageous prices for 6 strawberries! I just bought some tonight to dip as well. Yours look just as good as berries.com!
