Happy 9 Months!

For once I will not start a post with "I can't believe how fast time flies"... or well... maybe I just started it that way anyhow.

Yesterday Kyah turned 9 months old. What's hard to believe is that 18 months ago to the day I was seeing a faint positive on a pregnancy test. He was barely visible but yet he already had a heartbeat. The same sweet heartbeat that he has today.

These last 9 months have been the best 9 months of our lives. Everything has been a zillion times better since he has joined our family.  He gives us a purpose and a reason for living. He is an answered prayer!

Today he had his 9 month well visit. He's a growing boy. Not so much in weight but in height. This little man is quite a tall fellow. He is 31 inches tall (99%) and weighs 21 lbs 7.5 oz (75%). He is as tall as the average 13 month old and weighs about what the average 11 month old weighs.

It's nice to have a picture that I did not need to edit out a pee pee in.

Here is what you have been up to this last month:

Week 36:
This week you figured out how to get into the crawling position the Correct Way! We went to visit your Great Aunt Pat (Daddy's Aunt). She used to be an occupational therapist and she helped us get you on track to crawling.  Since you were so afraid to lean to the side to get things, you never could get into a good position and build the right muscles. Now... my friend. You have got it down!  You will be crawling in no time! You also LOVE to play peekaboo. Especially when we lay you down to go to sleep.

Week 37:
The day you turned 37 weeks you learned how to wave Bye-Bye with your hands. You think that it's the neatest thing since sliced bread. You also learned how to wave Hello (though you have no idea that's what you are doing). You just smile when mommy does it back to you.  Mommy and Daddy had to buy you Big Boy Jammies. You have outgrown the kind with feet. Now you wear 12 month Jammies that are shorts and a shirt.  You are mastering your crawling skills. You are still not crawling but you are getting on all fours and moving your hands to get things. This is a HUGE step in the right direction.  You also decided that you were going to yell again. You just love to scream for fun. It's a very high pitch scream. Then you like to grunt as loud and as hard as possible. You are truly enjoying your voice.

Week 38:
Mommy and Daddy went to the Bahamas and left you home with Lolly. She came over to stay at the house so that you could be in your own bed at night and with all of your favorite toys.  We sure did miss you, but it was a wonderful vacation. We can't wait to take you there with us one day when you are older. You will have such a fun time.  Right before we left for vacation you got your 3rd bottom (left) tooth! While we were gone another bottom (right) tooth came in. You now have 6 teeth with two more on the way.

Week 39 (9 Months):
This week you starting taking STEPS! Obviously it's only when we hold your hands, but still, A Step is a a Step!  You also started to  CRAWL this week. Mommy and Daddy had to install safety latches on the cabinets.  You loved to open them and take as much stuff out as you could.  You continue to amaze us each and every day.  You still  love to scream and do it as often as possible. Your favorite game is still peekaboo.
Your most favorite thing to do right now is stand. You just grab on to anything and everything to pull up.  Every morning when you wake up you get to lay in bed with us. You just crawl all over the place. It's so fun to wake up to such a happy baby.  You still sleep about 12 hours a night with no problem. It's amazing how you know it's night time and not just another nap time.  You now ear 18 month old shirt and 6-9 month shorts. (you have a skinny waist). For the time being your 12 month PJ's still fit, but we assume that the next set we purchase will be 18 months as well. This week was also fun because you went swimming in a BIG pool! Aunt Pat invited us over for Memorial Day and you just had a wonderful time in your little float. Next week you start swimming lessons at the college. Can you believe that you will have 12 college credits when you complete your swimming lessons. WOW! 9 Months old and in college.  In addition, mommy gave you a hair cut again. This time I let it grow out enough so that there was something to cut off and keep in your special box.  At 9 months you weigh 21 lbs 7.5 oz (75%) and you are 31 inches tall (99%). Your head is 17cm. You are growing tall and strong! You received an A+ at your 9 month well visit.

Our silly Buggy!

Granted... he's improved 10 fold in 4 days. He's ALL OVER THE PLACE!

Sounds like you have a growing and not active little boy on your hands. Enjoy every minute.

"What's hard to believe is that 9 months ago to the day I was seeing a faint positive on a pregnancy test." I think you mean 18 months ago! :) Kyah is so beautiful! What a tall little man! And such a good crawler. :)
