Fort Dub

First of all, thank you so much for all of the lovely comments you left on my last post. You girls sure know how to brighten a day.

Kyah and I have been thouroghly enjoying our time indoors. As many of you know, Texas has been beaten down with ice and snow. Lucky for us, we moved a little further south and got out of the way... for the most part. We were hit with about 2" of snow and ice this past week and are "supposed" to have sleet/ice mix again tonight. We shall see about that.

I am all about turning the TV off and playing! Being hands-on and encouraging creativity!  Some of you may own those little "baby tents" as I like to call them. You know, the ones that pop up and fold and twist back together. Yea, well... we have one of those too. It's a darn shame he outgrew it already, even though the age on the box says 3. What are they thinking? He leans against the side of it and it falls over and squishes him inside. Just another cause of frustration for a teething toddler. No fun.

ALL of that being said,I would like to welcome you all to Fort Dub! Well, really it's just a bunch of blankets in the family room drapped over a large floor candle and a few chairs and tucked into the entertainment center.
I raided the sheet box that I keep on hand {for activities} and we pulled out a few blankets as well.  We brought two dining chairs from the table and the candle stick in the corner. In the end we had a FORT!  Fort Dub to be exact!

We played in Fort Dub for at least 2 hours.
He brought in a few toys and moved them from chair to chair.  We even "roasted marshmallows" over a "fire"....

I put a few marshmallows on Chop Sticks. Worked like a charm and he had so much fun!

Mmmmm!

... And we finished it off by watching a Baby Einstein.
Even Jay Girl joined in and watched the flick.

Come to think of it, I don't know the last time I played in a Fort, but it was awesome and I am already looking forward to doing it again.

We have been up to all sorts of other fun hands-on activities that I will be sharing in the coming days!

What are some of YOUR favortie Snowed In activities?
