Re-Creation inspired by Pottery Barn

I'm all for saving a buck, how bout' you? Yea, I figured as much. Who would ever "want" to pay full price for something when they can get it or make it on the cheap. I agree.

The other day while flipping pages in my beloved Pottery Barn catalog I saw these two preeties.  I loved them. I just didn't love their price tag. What I loved most about the one on the left, the lantern style, was that it was simple, open and that it could hang.  The votive holder was calling my name simply because of the bird on top! Love!

However, as pretty as they were, there was no way on earth I would spend $99 on the "lantern" nor would I ever spend $129 on a votive holder. Who can justify that?

Instead I sighed and turned the pages.

Because I keep a mental list  sometimes a hand written list of things that my heart desires but my wallet can't afford, I knew that I would find something that would meet my needs eventually. Little did I know it would be so soon.

The next day while out thrifting, I spotted  the most perfect complication of the two peices {open lantern, candle, hanging and birds}. It was adorable and exactly what I needed for the space I had invisioned.  After looking more carefully I spotted TWO! The best part. $7.49 each! Yes, you heard me right!

Adorable Right?

Hanging perfectly in their new home!

What do you think?  Have there been any "on the cheap" projects that you have done recently? Do share! A girl can never have too much inpiration.

That is so awesome Erin! I am always on a hunt for cheap stuff, but I am better at finding great discounts on clothes than decor! The end of this month/beginning of next month we will finally be shopping for decor to complete our house and make it a home. I can't wait. I even found a place near me that is a pottery barn style of furniture and household items for a fraction of the price. There is a 'barnyard' sale this place is doing in a few weeks and I can not wait to see what all I can find!

Love this! You are so smart! I heart PB but you're right, it's so darn pricey! I have found so many PB look-alike items at my local TJ Maxx Homegoods and Target. Same thing, half the price!

You did a great job!

Way to go!! It was recently, but when we painted our bedroom 2 years ago I wanted black curtains to make it darker. Well, curtains can be expensive so we used a flat twin sheet! You can even tell and it blocks the morning sun perfectly!

Yeah, you're totally lucky that I don't like close to you. Or I would have come over to visit and left with these in my pocket. Awesome find!
