Our Journey to Adoption has begun!

Well, kind of. I started a blog to keep track of what we are doing and when. There are a few posts that I have backdated to record a few events that have taken place. From here on however, I will have a place to go record our journey.

It's a process that we are just starting, so please, if you would like to follow along we would love to have you.

For many reasons I will not be posting much about our adoption on this blog. Primarily because I blog about a lot of other things on here and I would like to keep our adoption journey separate. It's special and it deserves it's own little spot.

Click {here} to be directed to our "Dub Family Adoption" blog.  Who knows what's to come...
The only thing we know right now is that God's in control and will bless us with the baby we were always suppose to call daughter... in His time... and in His ways.

Oh... and just cause he is the cutest thing currently in our family...

Coming:  a post about his new reading nook inspired by pottery barns tent, {well... land of nod, but you get the gist}.  It's oh so adorable and I can not wait to share it with you!

Our Trip to Paradise

As you all know, we can not wait to welcome another little one into our family through domestic infant adoption.  With that said, we took our last little vacation as a couple before we dive into the adoption process.  Needless to say, we had a blast.  A much needed blast!

We went with our very bestest of friends and had such an incredible time. Our friendship grew and Mr. Dubs and I enjoyed quite time alone together as well. It was a win, win!  Oh.. not to mention I am queen of Ping Pong. Who knew? {ha}.

I brought along my water camera, taking no chances of messing up my Rebel.  I must say the picture quality is not great but it got the job done.

LOVED the Beach!! Mr. Dubs and I had so much fun splashing in the ocean. I'm not usually a fan of salt water but this time I was soaking it in.

We enjoyed a casual Lobster dinner on the deck, overlooking the ocean. Amazing food... amazing view and even more amazing company.

Strange enough, my friend saw her friend there and they were there vacationing with another couple. We enjoyed a nice Hibachi and Sushi dinner together one evening, only to learn that they live 10 minutes from us back home. Such a small world sometimes.

We road the Ferry across to another island.  We were told it had amazing snorkeling and incredible food. {not quite}.
We stayed on the island for about an hour, snorkeled a bit and ate the food.  We were pretty excited to get back to our island and enjoy our resort again.

First off, can I just say that my husband is a hunk! Goodness, gracious I love that man.  Anyways, we road the ferry back and enjoyed the rest of our stay at the lovely 5 Star Resort.

We finished the trip with Mexican Food and a show by Michael Jackson {yes, he came back just for us}....
And the best part... getting home to see Kyah!! While it was a nice break, we sure did miss him so much. He loved staying at camp "LollyPop" {my parents go by Lolly and Poppy}, and enjoyed being spoiled rotten!  After all, that's what grandparents are for.

We bought him  few treats, because that's tradition! He loved them and lucky for us, we got to hear them jingle, jangle and bang all the way home!

Jumping out of a perfectly good plane

Over the 4th of July weekend, Mr. Dubs jumped out of a perfectly good plane. Well, I wouldn't necessarily call the plane "good" but it got the job done. As a matter of fact, he later told me that he had never been more excited to jump out of a plane. It was small, cramped, rickety and well... the gauges didn't even work. eeeks!

Here are a few of my favorite shots from the day. I am not going to take the time to write out every living moment of the day, but I'll caption as I go so you can live vicariously through us.
I even included the '"blooooooper" photos.  Hope you laugh as hard as we did!

Mr. Dub, my brother and my daddy.

 Posing with the plane.
This is not the one they went up in, though even with the missing propeller I'm sure they would have chosen it over theirs.
{I kid, I Kid}

Daddy Dubs and Kyah watching the plane drive away.

This was the hanger that we spent the day in. Total of 6 hours and in 111*F. No lunch, a few waters to share and broken chairs.
Keep in mind... this is your typical skydive hanger. On the bright side, we had a great time visiting, Kyah did FABULOUS with absolutely no fussing and the boys had a great time.

Kyah watching the sky for skydivers.

Our little family right before Daddy Dubs went up, up, up and away.

All suited up and ready for his dive.
{note: this place was prepared for kiddos. They had great toys... as seen in the picture}.

There goes Mr. Dubs in the plane.
Love how this shot turned out with the flag. It was July 4th weekend after all.

My brother and dad looking for Mr. Dubs. He was away for 45 minutes before we saw him. Can you believe it took them 35 minutes to reach 10,500 ft. Whew!

The tiny speck at the top is B Dubs! This was taken with my mega zoom lens and he was still teeeeny tinnnny.

 Coming in for landing!

That would be my dad. He's walking like he's boarding a NASA Spacecraft. Men, I tell ya.

Daddy and Kyah sharing a drink after his landing.

My brother about to board his plane.

Brother is landing! He came in over the hanger and this was as good as it got.

He had a great time though!

And here are a few to snicker at.
There is just something seriously comical about this photo.
1}. It looks completely fake and photoshopped. It's not.
2}. Yes that is the landing position when you are diving tandem, but really... not cool.
3}. I'm not so sure my dad would be too fond of having a photo of his man parts next to another man's man parts.

Mentioning "Parts" on "Parts".
Nuff said huh?

My brother was instructed not to wear a dave suit.
For a "dude" that is about as "dudish" as they come, this Miss America pose sure doesn't scream "Man Hood" very loudly.

Another reason you would want to wear a dive suit... so you are not left pulling your britches out of your rear.

Mama Dub's Cinnamon & Sugar Biscuits

Melt.in.your.mouth.delish! And so very simple.
After I made these I actually googled them to see if there was a recipe out there but I didn't find anything like this and it's the easiest.

It all started when I went to cook cinnamon toast for breakfast. Hello Biscuits! I'm pretty sure that I'll never eat cinnamon toast again after eating these bad boys.  Oh so good! {can you tell I am a fan}.

WHAT YOU NEED:
1 Can Biscuits {I used store brand, jumbo butter. Not only simple, but cheap too}.
1/3 Cup of Cinnamon Sugar Mix {pre made or homemade}.  You can eye the amount if you want. It's simple enough to know when you have enough in a bowl for your dipping.
Chopped Pecans or Walnuts {optional}
Honey {optional}
Butter {optional

HOW TO:
Are you ready for this...

Step 1: Preheat oven to the temp printed on your biscuit package.
Step 2:  Line your baking sheet with parchment paper {best stuff ever invented... ever} or lightly grease your pan.
Step 3: Give your biscuits a nice coating of Cinnamon & Sugar. All sides... nooks and crannies. Makes it way better! Sometimes more is never enough. mmmm.

Step 4: While this step is optional it's highly recommended.  Roll the top side of your coated biscuit in chopped pecans or walnuts.  Ahhh. Are you thinking what I'm thinking... sure you are!
Step 5: Place in the oven and cook according to the printed time on the biscuit package.
{remove once done... carefully of course since they are hot}

Step 6: Again, while optional.... it's pretty much a must.  Slice open while fresh out of the oven, apply butter so that it gets nice and melted and then drizzle with honey.
Serve warm with a side of fresh fruit and a glass of milk or juice.

I'm cool, so I ate mine with a fork.

In all seriousness though... you HAVE to try this. So delish!

Dubby Dub adventures... say waaa?

It seems that I am more into updating facebook with photos these days and neglecting to update my blog. {please accept my apologies}.  I'll admit though, I would much rather be snuggling with Kyah buddy and with my hubbsies in the evening.  You would have to agree... that does sound much better than staring at a computer screen... yes. yes.

I mentioned that we have been traveling a lot. We have had several trips back to the Big D to hang with family. While it's been nice to see family, I would love to have some down time here at the house to focus on things.

A few things that we have been up to these last few weeks {as in 6 or so weeks}:

I hosted a bridal shower themed around Ice Cream. I mean... who doesn't want Ice Cream in the 120* Texas heat.

I attended a baby shower in San Antonio for a long time friend.
{inserting cool story here}
About 10 years ago I worked for a fortune 500 company. Although I lived in the state of Texas, I was responsible for the entire state of California. I worked closely with a lady that lived in Cali for several years. We became very good friends though we had never met in person. Even the years after leaving this company we have remained in close contact. I'm not only friends with her on FB but with her daughter {pictured above}, her husband and even her dog. Ok, so don't ask about the dog. Just know he's a cool dog and has his won FB page. Long story short, I was finally able to meet one of the members of the family in person. Meet Amanda! She has since had her adorable baby girl and both mom and baby are healthy!
Mini shout out of congrats to Mandy!
My sister in law shared with me the amazing news that she is HAVING ANOTHER BABY!!! I could not be happier that I am going to be an Aunt again. This will be my 6th {niece or nephew}.  And because this picture is just too darn cute not to share, here is BIG SISTER....
Kyah and I have enjoyed play dates, bible studys, MOPS meetings, and LOTS of days spent at the pool.
B Dub, my brother and my dad jumped out of a plane over July 4th weekend.  I have decided that there are too many cool shots so it will have a post of it's own. It was a fun, stressful, long and HOT day.
On one of the many trips to Dallas, we visited the Ft. Worth Zoo. Daddy and Kyah love feeding the birds. It really is one of the highlights of the zoo. Believe it or not, but we all escaped without being doo doo'd on.
And of course you have to see one more of my faves. All 6 of the cousins, together, happy and for the most part still

Dub Family Update

It's crazy how much time as passed without a true update on the fam. It's so much easier to sit back and post every now and then and share a few things that I have been working on. However, lots of my old readers have gone bye bye over the last few months and I want them back. I'm sure by now I will never see some of them again. I miss seeing their faces names.

As Kyah takes a nap, I am hoping I have enough time to compose an update. Mentioning Kyah, he slept in yesterday until NOON people. Yes, I said NOON! He went to bed the night before at 6pm. We have been traveling quite a bit so I laid him down early. He awoke at 8pm {his normal bedtime} so we decided to go see some fireworks.  He then went to sleep at 10pm and slept till' noon. He didn't nap, cause let's face it... that was a lot of sleep.  Last night we put him to bed at his normal bedtime of 8pm and he slept in until 10:30am. After a morning full of shopping he went down for a nap. Crazy huh? And what's crazier, he has been napping for 2.5 hours. This child is certainly growing. I guess all I have to work on now is getting him to eat. He's being so darn picky again. {oh the phases}.

Here's an awesome picture that I took while we were watching fireworks.  He LOVED them and I am so glad that we didn't skip out on them this year. He kept calling them "Boom Lights". Is that not precious!

We are still working on getting things settled with the move. Yes, I know. We moved in our house only... oh.... 7 months ago.   It's just a slow process. I have come to realize that you must make your house a home as you go. It's not really something you can do overnight {which would be SO ideal}.  I'm still working on the entryway decor. Hoping to tackle it hardcore towards the end of July. So many great ideas came in that I loved!

After I tackle the entryway, I have the master bedroom that needs some major TLC. I'll take some pictures and share with you all. That way you can agree with me... and give ideas. You guys and gals are so very good at that!

I'd love to share pictures of a big project that I have completed at the house, but I must confess that it has received very little of my attention other than a little cleaning here and there. We have been traveling so much over the last few months that I don't really feel that I have even been home that much.

If I can count, we have been on the road for at least 36 hours in just the last 7 weeks. We have had multiple road trips back to Dallas to see family for some reason or another. As a matter of fact we are heading back once again this next week. This time it's for vacay!  Kyah {and our dogs} will be staying with my parents for the week while we enjoy our last little vacation as a couple before we start the adoption process.

We are going with some friends to this amazing oasis!
Upon our return I am going to be sewing like crazy. We have quite a bit more money to raise for our adoption {not that I expect to raise it all by selling aprons}, but every little bit I can help raise is better in my books.

And because I know you are curious to have a little sneak peak at our future daughters bedding.... this is is!  Is that not to.die.for!  I had it custom made by a lady that sells on etsy. She's amazing! Highly recommend her to anyone. I have the perfect Shabby-Chic nursery all planned out. Granted, at this rate it will be the beginning of next year before I can work on it. There's a lot to the adoption process before I can decorate.
I'll post pictures of some of the fun things we have been up to Friday!
