I can not believe that I just typed that title, but it's true. We celebrated Kyah's 2nd Birthday this past Saturday. We traveled to Dallas for Labor Day weekend and had a small family party for him. I'll be honest, the only decor that I took was what could fit in a plastic tote. He will have another bigger birthday party on the 17th. That one will be at home so it will make things easier.
Here are a few pictures from his "Family Party". I stuck with the colors Orange, Teal and Lime. Seems to be a trend for Kyah this last year. They are the same colors used in his room as well as the color of his personal dishes, etc.
Anyway, back on subject. Here are a few photos from this past weekend.
I made his invites to match the theme.{I am aware that I spelled his name incorrectly. I corrected it before they went out but I never took another picture. Just pretend it's right}. I ordered the shirt from Etsy. Highly recommend Lori. Her work is amazing and very affordable.

I made the Birthday Cake {sort of} and topped it with an Elephant that I found at the Dollar Tree and a homemade burlap banner. I had actually baked three 8" round cakes for the party but I made made the decision to travel with them. Even though I froze them, one of them did not make it. I took my Crusted Buttercream Icing recipe with me and planned to make it there, but once I had a ruined cake I just decided to buy it all separate. I went to the bakery department in the local grocer and asked them for 3 white, un-iced 8" cakes. $2 each... yes please! For $5 she threw in 5lbs of Crusted Butter Cream icing for me. I took it all home and put it together. Therefore, the cake is store bought/homemade. I "pre-served" the ice cream in matching cupcake holders. I stored them in the freezer until we cut the cake. It made serving time so much faster when I had 20 people in line.

I made "mini cupcakes" using Mini Reeses Peanut Butter Cups. I topped with a dollop of icing and threw a few sprinkles on top. They were cute and delicious! The second cake that you see with the Giraffe was made to use up the left over icing and the two remaining cakes that I brought with me. It was small and cute!
We had a few healthy snacks this year to make up for all of the junk food. I served Quiche Bites and Deli Spirals along with cups of Celery and Carrots with Ranch Dressing.
Zebra Cakes were a must since it was Zoo Themed and of course what little Monkey doesn't like bananas.
We had Twisted Cheetoh Puffs that were kindly nicknamed "Monkey Doodles". I found matching napkins at Party City and picked up these fun little Monkey Hats for $0.10 at Michaels.
I took his picture a few days prior and printed a few out to have at the party. I also made the party hats for his Big Day! While this is not a great shot of them, I assure you that are adorable!
The Dubs {and cousin Sadie}. It was "open present time"!
Kyah and his "Cheetoh" smile.
Wearing his Party hat! The dude loved them! He also thought it was funny to watch the feathers ruffle on other people's hats.
The Dubby Dubs in Party hats!
I adore this picture. Both my boys wearing party hats and looking at cake. We were singing and about to blow out the candles. They took it very seriously.
Everyone, sans two.
And of course, his Birthday Kiss. Last year we made it a point to kiss Kyah at exactly 6:37pm, the time that he was born. This year we all set our phone alarm for that time. They all went off and we gave him a kiss! {Is that not the best face ever.
