How to Sprout Lentils in 4 Days {for salads or wraps}

I'm really into gardening right now.  We eat fresh food so often that I decided I needed to just go ahead and grow some of it here. So far, so good.

One thing that's really easy is sprouting lentils.  They grow in only 4 days.

I bought a scoop full of Dry Lentils at Sprouts {health food store} for about $1. Cheap right?

I thought that I would share my how-to with you. Here's what you need:

Sit them on your kitchen counter and let them drink the water overnight.
They drink a lot so you should have quite a bit of water over your lentils.
The next morning {24 hours later} drain them over the sink. I used a strainer spoon, but you could also use a small piece of screen. I have seen where people cut a whole in the jar lid and replace with screen so that they can reuse the same jar over and over.

Set them aside and watch them grow.
They grew so much in just 1 afternoon.

Easy!
Serve them on wraps or salads.

You can use a Mason jar also. Cut a piece of cheesecloth, put it over the mouth of the jar, then screw the band over the cheesecloth and you can easily drain them with one hand! That's my favorite way to do it. I also prefer to use the wide mouth Mason jars. Easier to work with.

I've sprouted mung beans, alfalfa seeds, lots of things, but I've never thought of sprouting lentils. I'll have to give that a try. Thanks for this informative post. Sprouts are sooooo healthy.
